It seems like not that long ago you could count with one hand the amount of local breweries, like some still remember the days when getting a craft brew was a Yuengling. Now local breweries are popping up like mushrooms and the beer list now covers anything that our imagine can conjure. I ask, is there a limit?
Just to put things in perspective, there were thirty breweries/brew pubs showing their products at the second Georgia Craft Beer Festival (which by the way is a show of the growing market – it outgrew it’s venue in just one year). And there were absentees at the festival. Plus, Georgia is the dominant market of the southeast, to enter the Georgia market or not to enter the Georgia market? is not a question to take lightly. Big players, well big for craft beer, that have tried to enter the market have failed to meet the demand (ex. Cigar City Brewing) and other big players have chosen to come here and skip over our neighbors (ex. Prairie Artisan Ales). All of that is not taking into consideration all the other big player that are established in this market and we have come to take for granted. So I ask, how much beer can Atlanta drink? As of right now, the thirst is insatiable.
